Posted on 14 Apr 2009 at 09:30
Apple has begun counting towards the moment when the iTunes App Store records its billionth download.
And when one billion is reached, the person who downloads the milestone app will also receive a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule and a MacBook Pro.
Currently the total is rapidly approaching 960 million.
The most popular of those downloads include Facebook, the top free app, and amongst paid for apps, Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D, knocking Koi Pond off the top of the chart.
