Amazon opts out of Phorm

Amazon has announced that it has written a letter to request that its websites are opted out of the controversial Webwise targeted-advert system.
"We have contacted Webwise requesting that we opt-out for all of our domains," the company told us in a statement.
The news will please the Open Rights Group, which recently wrote a letter to the world's leading internet companies, including Microsoft, Google, Facebook, AOL, Yahoo, Ebay and Amazon, asking them to opt out of Phorm.
The move follows on from news earlier this week that the European Commission is taking legal action against Britain over Phorm. It accused the government of failing to keep people's online details confidential by letting ISPs use Webwise to snoop on users' internet browsing
