Apple freezes Snow

Apple has put a freeze on any further development of the programming tools for Snow Leopard, an indication that testing is close to completion.
The company distributed the latest build to developers this week, informing them that the alterations to programming for multicore Macs would be the last changes of their kind. This will enable to developers to proceed with optimising and testing their applications on Snow Leopard without having to worry about possible changes to the tools they are using.
Apple will likely unveil the finished version of Snow Leopard, the next major revision to OS X, at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, a year after the upgrade was announced. Past experience suggests it will ship in August or September.
Snow Leopard differs from the five previous OS X upgrades in that it does not boast a long list of new features and applications. Instead Apple is focussing on the underlying components with the aim of making a leaner and faster operating system that will better enable it to adapt to technological advances and users’ demands.
