Microsoft releases Vista SP2
Posted on 27 May 2009 at 10:16
Microsoft has released the second major update to Windows Vista.
The 348MB download (577MB for 64-bit users) is little more than a enormous bug fix, encompassing all the updates released since Vista SP1 rolled out.
The smattering of new and enhanced features include a revamped Windows Search, support for Bluetooth 2.1 and the option to burn Blu-ray discs from within Windows.
The Service Pack should start arriving via Windows Update shortly or directly from Microsoft downloads (64-bit version here).
Users who wish to install SP2 must have SP1 installed first.
Microsoft has also released the official Vista SP2 DVD image for anyone who wants to archive the SP2 update for future use. Simply download this ISO file, then burn the image file to disc using an application such as Roxio Creator, Nero Burning ROM or the the free ISO Recorder.
Once the software is installed, insert a blank disc into the drive you're going to record the image to and use Windows Explorer to browse to the Vista SP2 ISO file that you downloaded. Right-click it and select Copy image to CD. Select your CD writer from the list and click Next to burn the disc.
