Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid Lynx' announced

Mark Shuttleworth, the founder of Linux manufacturer Canonical, has announced that Ubuntu 10.04 will be codenamed Lucid Lynx.
Talking via video at the Atlanta Linux Fest, Shuttleworth announced that 10.04 would be the latest Long Term Support (LTS) edition of Ubuntu. Primarily aimed at businesses, LTS editions have guaranteed support for three years on the desktop edition and five years on the server edition.
A big part of 10.04 will be a new desktop, courtesy of Gnome 2.0.
"From a desktop point of view with Lucid we'll be focussing on delivering the very best of Gnome 2.0," said Shuttleworth.
Shuttleworth went on to explain that after Lucid Lynx, the company would be focussing its time on bringing the new technologies, architectures and experiences being developed as part of Gnome 3.0 to Ubuntu.
There was also a promise that netbooks would be specially catered for, with work from the Ayatana Initiative (a collective project that houses user interface, design and interaction projects) improving Linux's user interface on these budget laptops.
