Offline music listening comes to Spotify
Posted on 1 Oct 2009 at 17:09
Spotify, the online streaming music service, can now be enjoyed without internet access.
Spotify lets you listen to a huge catalogue of music stored on its servers, which meant that, until now, you had to be connected to the internet to enjoy it. Subscribers to the Spotify Premium service, which costs £10 a month, can now save their playlists so they can listen to their favourite tracks even if they don't have internet access.
Subscribers can save up to 3,333 tracks for offline access which should be more than enough for all but the longest trips without internet access.
This new feature shouldn't come as a surprise, as offline listening has been available to users of the iPhone version of the Spotify program for several weeks now.
Users of the free ad-supported version of the Spotify service, as well as subscribers of the 99p a day ad-free Day Pass service, can't take advantage of the offline listening feature.
