Apple fixes Guest accounts, Type 1 Fonts with wide-ranging OS X update

Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6.2, a wide-ranging update that fixes dozens of issues with Snow Leopard.
Two of those issues have been widely publicised: the potentially calamitous possibility of losing the entire contents of one user’s account simply by logging out of another, Guest account; and problems with font rendering, particularly when using fonts encoded in the Type 1 format.
The update also fixes other font problems, including issues with font spacing and the duplication and absence of certain typefaces.
System wide, in addition to fixing the Guest account bug, it addresses problems that can cause unexpected logouts, unreliable menu extra performance, absence of Exchange contacts from search results, slow frame rates in Front Row, problems with VPN connections, and more.
Apple has also addressed problems specific to display connections, Mail, iDisk performance—about time, some might say, MobileMe sync reliability and the reliability of Safari plugins.
Mac OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard is available available via Software Update or from support.apple.com/downloads. The update incorporates all the latest security patches.
