SuperCard 4 is an astounding tool that's reliable in both OS 9 and OS X, but it isn't perfect - for example, greater control over text in fields would be would be welcome, as would paragraph-level formatting and custom tab handling for presenting data arrays. Internal colour referencing is limited to 8-bit, although importing and working with 24-bit images is simple.
As with so many applications, it doesn't come with any printed manuals. The PDF guides are good, but a printed reference would be useful. It could also do with a little more explanatory documentation for new users, although that's something being tackled by the developers and the SuperCard mailing list user group. In fact, the helpfulness of the email list (even to the extent of writing custom externals) is a noteworthy benefit.
If you like the idea of making custom software, whether for yourself or other people, but you don't fancy tackling obtuse programming code, this should be right up your street.
