Photo Viewer review
Pocket PC is top dog in the PDA world when it comes to image-viewing and editing software, and Resco's latest offering provides a decent selection of tools for basic touch-up work, as well as an excellent photo album and slideshow viewer.
The latter will appeal to business users, allowing them to plug their Pocket PC into a projector and run a presentation.
You should have no problem getting your snapshots imported, as Photo Viewer supports more than a dozen popular graphics formats, with the welcome inclusion of native Adobe Photoshop files as well as JPEG, GIF, BMP and so on. One surprise addition is that the latest version adds MPEG video playback support as well, a feature missing from Microsoft's built-in Windows Media Player.
Although the 48-colour drawing tools palette makes Photo Viewer unsuitable for pixel-level editing of images, you can quickly tweak and save the brightness, contrast, gamma correction and colour balance settings to enhance your photos.
One of the most useful editing features is the ability to crop and resize images, which is great for getting rid of unwanted areas from your photos and improving their composition generally. It's easy to organise images into albums too, with a variety of thumbnail views to help you identify and categorise everything. For simple image editing on the move, Resco Photo Viewer does an excellent job.
