BT chops hot spot costs
Posted on 26 Aug 2005 at 14:08
BT has cut the cost of connecting to its Openzone range of public Wi-Fi hotspots.
New subscribers who sign up between 1 September and 30 November will pay just £5 for 250 minutes per month or £15 for 4,000 minutes. After three months prices will revert to £10 and £25 respectively.
BT is hoping to persuade occasional Openzone users, currently paying the more expensive pay-as-you-go prices, to buy more wireless time.
Rival public Wi-Fi operator T-Mobile charges £5 for 60 minutes and £13 for 24 hours (1,140 minutes), but does offer longer periods of seven days fro £30 and a month for £45.
