Our Rating
Produced for schools, this software also comes in a single-user version and is suitable for a wide audience. It enables you to explore the climate of Europe and investigate its various weather conditions.
The reference material is arranged like a book, with narrated text and a search facility. The seven chapters start with Global Patterns and Climate Factors, which explain the major influences on the weather. The next two chapters cover aspects such as frontal systems and weather conditions using satellite pictures, charts and photographs. The chapter on forecasting is concerned with understanding barometric pressure and fronts, and includes a quiz to test your ability to interpret cloud conditions. The penultimate chapter explains European climate zones with maps, charts and photographs. The political map is dated, as it identifies only 15 EU member states. Finally, the Places and People section presents four case studies and the user is asked to identify the climate.
It also includes a workbook, which contains just one mention of global warming. It talks about the drought in Spain and Portugal in 1995, which scientists didn't think represented a long-term climate change. In the light of recent evidence, we beg to differ
