The humble floppy disk may be fading into obscurity, but if you've been using computers for any substantial period of time, you're sure to have a stack of them somewhere.
While it's useful to keep a floppy drive in your PC, that doesn't mean it has to be completely devoted to legacy technology.
As the name implies, Scan's drive combines a floppy disk drive with a card reader. It accepts the usual wide selection of memory cards, from older Compact Flash and Smart Media cards to more modern SD, SDHC and Memory Stick formats. Installation is relatively easy, although there's no printed manual, just a PDF on a mini CD. The card reader needs a USB header, or you can loop a wire through a PCI blanking plate and connect to a USB port at the back of the PC. It's cheap, efficient and a good way to make use of a 3½in drive bay.
