Verbatim announces external hard disks with built-in displays
Posted on 21 Aug 2009 at 10:30
Verbatim has launched a new range of its InSight portable USB hard disks with built-in screens that show you how much free space is available without having to plug them into a computer.
This information automatically updates itself when an InSight disk is disconnected from your computer and is always on, even when no longer connected to a computer. Although this may seem like new technology, Verbatim actually acquired it back in July 2007 when it bought external hard disk manufacturer SmartDisk. You can see how the technology works by reading our SmartDisk FireLite Xpress review.
The InSight disks are available in the US in 320GB and 500GB capacities at a cost of $120 (around £72) and $150 (around £91) respectively. UK pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed.
