Pioneer Computers launches DreamBook slate

It seems as though everyone is trying to take the iPad on in the slate marketplace at the moment - including Australian manufacturer Pioneer Computers, which has just announced the DreamBook ePad B10 CULV.
Unlike the majority of slate devices currently on the market - including the iPad itself - or announced as pending by several companies, the DreamBook has a trick up its sleeve: a fully-powered processor that promises a more responsive computing experience.
Available with either the low-power 1.3GHz Celeron 743 or more powerful 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo SU3500 processor, the DreamBook is designed as a full replacement for your notebook rather than a companion device. Accordingly, it's running a full install of Windows 7 on either a mechanical hard drive or, as an optional extra, a more robust SSD.
The display is slightly larger than the iPad's at 10.1in, and features LED backlighting and a 1024x600 resolution - along with full multi-touch support, according to Pioneer. A single 1.3 megapixel webcam helps to differentiate the device from its camera-less rival.
Considering the amount of technology crammed into the device, the weight is a surprisingly light 850g.
Pioneer Computers claims that the low-power components used in the DreamBook mean it is capable of running for up to six hours from a single charge - which is nearly half that of the iPad, but still impressive for such a portable gadget.
The DreamBook ePad B10 is currently only available in Pioneer Computer's native Australia, with prices starting at AU$899 (around £520).
