PC World pulls Toshiba Folio 100 from shelves

Toshiba's Android-based Folio T100 tablet only launched last week, but the 10in device has already run into problems with its exclusive seller, the Dixons group, pulling the unit from shelves.
Reports early today were that sky-high returns due to software issues and poor build quality were to blame. We phoned the PC World stock line to check if any stores were selling it and were told, "We don't stock that."
We spoke to Toshiba to find out what the company intended to do about the problems.
"Toshiba UK is aware of reports regarding customer returns of the Folio 100 and is currently working with Dixons Retail to provide a solution. An update on availability will be provided in due course," said a company spokesperson.
The device is designed to be a competitor to Apple's incredibly popular iPad, and was trumpeted by Toshiba has having many features missing from Apple's device including support for Flash 10.1 content in the web browser, an HDMI port for connection to an external display for 1080p high-definition playback, and a 1.3 megapixel front-mounted webcam. The price, too, compared well to Apple's iPad, retailing for just £350.
Despite this set back, Android tablets look set to become a big seller this Christmas with tons of new models just launched, including the excellent Samsung Galaxy Tab.
