Samsung Galaxy Tab specs leaked

Further details of Samsung's up-coming Galaxy Tab - the company's answer to Apple's iPad - which was pictured earlier this month have come to light, finally confirming the specifications of the device.
The details come courtesy of Engadget, which quotes sources in South Korea as stating that the 7in display on the Galaxy Tab will utilise Super AMOLED technology for increased readability in direct sunlight and include full multi-touch support.
The Galaxy Tab is said to be based around Android 2.2 - the latest version of Google's increasingly popular mobile platform - although there's no confirmation yet as to whether Samsung's disappointing TouchWiz proprietary user interface will make an appearance as suggested by the earlier leaked photographs.
The heart of the device is based around a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor - as used in the company's Galaxy S smartphone - which compares well to the ARM-based A4 chip in Apple's iPad. The 7in model - which it is rumoured will be joined by 5in and 10in versions at a later date - will also include 16GB of storage, a 4,000mAh battery, and support for microSD cards. All-in, the device weighs 370g - significantly less than the 680g iPad.
There are also rumours that the device will launch under the name Galaxy Tape, rather than Galaxy Tab, but that has yet to be confirmed - along, sadly, with a precise launch date and expected pricing.
