LG says it hasn't sold 15,000 3D TVs to sky

After we reported that LG had sold 15,000 3D TVs to Sky for use in pubs and other venues, LG UK has had to come out and say that's not entirely true.
In fact, Sky hasn't bought any TVs at all and definitely isn't supplying them to pubs. Instead, what the original release from Asia should have said is that Sky will be helping pubs and venues buy 3D TVs from LG. In effect, then, Sky is acting as a kind of middle man as it tries to persuade pubs and other venues to upgrade to 3D in time for the new 3D channel launching in April.
"LG Electronics UK would like to further clarify the situation. The figure of 15,000 3D TVs is inaccurate. Sky is helping support its commercial customers purchase TVs direct from a UK third party," said LG.
