Sharp announces new Quattron 3D HDTVs

Sharp has announced ten new entries in its Quattron HDTV lineup, including four with glasses-based 3D capabilities.
The TVs, which feature LED backlighting for high contrast ratios and low power draw, are described over on Newlaunches.com based on a Japanese-language report by Impress as ranging from 40in to 60in, while the 3D-ready editions - known as the LV3 series - will be available in 40in, 46in, 52in, and 60in.
All LV3-series Sharp HTDVs are set to feature full HD-resolution 1080p LCD panels with LED backlighting, and each display comes with a single pair of active shutter glasses to produce the 3D effect. Sadly for anyone who lives in anything other than a single person household, Sharp hasn't offered any hints as to how much additional pairs of glasses might set you back.
Each of the high-end LV3 series TVs will feature dual TV tuners and the option to record video streams to a connected USB storage device, although there's no mention of any in-built storage for those who want a minimum of boxes cluttering up their living rooms.
All Sharp's new HDTV sets are set to launch in Japan by the end of July, with prices for the 3D-ready LV3 series and a single pair of shutter glasses starting at ¥280,000 (around £2,100) for the 40in LC-40LV3. The firm said that the TVs are expected to arrive in the UK in August.
