Google prompts for Quick Search
Posted on 10 Jun 2009 at 14:37
Google has released its latest software for OS X, a universal search tool known simply as Google Quick Search Box (QSB).
QSB lets you can search for all kinds of information on the web and on your Mac. As you type, suggestions will appear that match your query, including local applications and files, browser history and contacts and web search and navigational suggestions.
Select a result and press the tab key or the right arrow on the keyboard to launch the app, for example, see a list of Google search results, start an instant messaging session and more.
Google says that over time it will increase the amount of data that QSB can search ad increase the number of actions that can be performed with the search results. Quicksilver users may find this all very familiar.
Just like the data you can search over, the list of actions you can perform will grow over time. Google has also designed the software so that it learn which results you are likely to want, placing the most popular results at the top of the list.
Google Quick Search Box is a free download from google.com/quicksearchbox/.
