Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite drops to lowest EVER price in Black Friday deal
As an early Black Friday treat, Amazon has slashed a gigantic £70 off the price of its Kindle Paperwhite
Black Friday has come early this year with an unmissable Kindle Paperwhite deal: Amazon has knocked a massive 47% off the cost of its previous-generation e-reader, reducing it to just £80 from £150. That’s its lowest-ever price on the site.
We awarded this 2018 iteration five stars in our original review and it’s still an excellent tablet today, with plenty of storage space, a mammoth battery life and enough waterproofing to please pool-side readers. This outstanding offer is likely to be very popular so make sure you snap it up quickly while stocks last.
With 32GB of storage, the Kindle Paperwhite has room for around 8,000 books – more than most of us will get through in a lifetime. Reading them is more pleasant than ever too, with a 6in E Ink screen that sits flush with the bezels and provides a resolution of 300ppi.
With a thickness of 8.1mm and a weight of 184g, the 2018 Kindle Paperwhite is easy to hold one-handed for lengthy reading sessions, while it charges via a micro-USB port. You won’t have to think about the latter very often, however, as the e-reader has an astronomical battery life of several weeks. The design is similarly robust: IPX8 water-resistance means it will withstand holiday pool splashes or drizzle on your daily commute.
There’s a lot of scope for customisation, from tweaking the screen’s brightness to changing the font and making text bolder. Compatibility with Audible (currently available for 99p for three months) also means that you’ll be able to listen to an audiobook and then pick up from where you left off in the ebook, if you own both. It’s a nifty feature, but bear in mind that you’ll need a pair of Bluetooth headphones and will need to buy both formats of the book.
Whether you’re looking for an e-reader to while away the winter evenings or a Christmas present for the bookworm in your life, the Kindle Paperwhite is an excellent choice – and this is a truly astonishing deal. Again, though, take advantage of it quickly to avoid disappointment.
