Every Black Friday, Garmin deals are hot property. Garmin’s smartwatches are excellent wearables that often demand a high premium, so finding one at a discount is paramount if you don’t want to blow a hole in your bank account. Fortunately for you, we’ve found a rare gem.
Right now, the Garmin Instinct GPS smartwatch is available at Amazon for just £130, down from a previous price of £179 and an RRP of £270. This is by far the cheapest this venerable wearable has ever sold for at Amazon, and you know what that means: it’s time to pull the trigger.
If you’re not sure what all the fuss is about, let me explain. The Garmin Instinct has been one of our favourite smartwatches since it launched. We gave the Garmin Instinct four stars and a coveted Recommended award when we reviewed it: Senior Editor Edward Munn praised the Instinct’s rugged design, superb battery life and – crucially – reasonable price, deciding by the verdict that “there’s nothing else at this price that offers quite the same combination of features.”
Those features include fitness and health tracking, military-spec waterproofing and durability and a built-in GPS. From snowboarding and swimming to yoga and stair climbing, the Instinct tracks it all. It has a built-in heart-rate monitor, altimeter and compass, and it has ANT+ and Bluetooth connectivity so you can connect it to your smartphone. It can’t display a map of your surroundings, and it doesn’t have a full-colour screen, but otherwise, the Instinct is one of the most complete smartwatch/fitness trackers around.
It’s controlled via a series of five buttons arranged around the 1.27in monochrome MIP screen. This screen is easy to read even in direct sunlight, our reviewer notes, and it can be illuminated at the touch of a button for viewing in the dark. The battery will keep the lights on for an extraordinary 14 days, too, so you won’t have to worry about charging it very often.
