Disney Plus price slashed ahead of UK launch

Disney Plus is sweetening the deal for UK subscribers...but only if you act fast

UPDATE: The Disney Plus deal we’re covering here has expired, because the service is out now in the UK. You can CLICK HERE to purchase Disney Plus or, alternatively, read our guides to the service itself and everything you’ll be able to watch on it.

The original article continues below.

After launching at the tail end of last year in the US and Canada, Disney’s new streaming service – Disney Plus – is all set to launch in the UK on 24 March.

As a sweetener, Disney is offering a reduced price for new customers, bringing the cost down to £49.99 for a year’s subscription.

That’s a £10 cut from the standard annual cost, which might be a tempting reduction if you’re already considering jumping into Disney’s homegrown rival to Netflix.

The offer is valid until 23 March, the day before the service launches, so you have just under a month to decide. After this, the standard pricing will resume, at either £59.99 a year or £5.99 a month.

Pre-order Disney Plus

Disney Plus is where the House of Mouse hosts films and TV shows from its various properties, namely Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, as well as the company’s backlog of classic Disney movies.

This includes the likes of Avengers and the recent Star Wars films, as well as exclusive programmes such as The Mandalorian; or ‘The show with Baby Yoda in it’, as anyone who has been near the internet over the past few months will be even dimly aware of.

The Disney Plus package also comes with National Geographic programming, and a further slate of upcoming ‘original’ shows, in the Netflix use of the word, including a series centred on Tom Hiddleston’s Loki character from the Avengers films. Fans will be glad to hear that the entire Simpsons catalogue will also be available.

You can find the Disney Plus deal by pre-ordering on the company’s site. If you want to weigh it up against the other streaming big hitters, be sure to check out our guide on the various benefits and drawbacks of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Now TV.
