How to watch Manchester City vs Manchester United in the Manchester derby

The Premier League Manchester derby between City and United takes place today 5.30pm live from the Etihad Stadium

The Manchester Derby, in which Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City take on neighbours and rivals Manchester United, is one of the most anticipated fixtures in the Premier League schedule for both fans and neutrals.

As one of the longest-standing and most heated rivalries in English football, since the two teams first met in the 1890s the red side of Manchester has dominated. Yet in more recent years, Guardiola’s Sky Blues have had better form, going into this weekend’s match with a 72% win rate.

They’ll also have the home advantage when Manchester City host Manchester Utd at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 7 December. Kickoff is at 5.30pm – unusual for a derby game, especially one that has the potential to become volatile – and the game is being broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK.

Both teams have had a mixed start to the season. Current Premier League champions Manchester City is in third place, behind Liverpool and Leicester, with 11 points separating them from Jurgen Klopp’s side whom they beat on the final day of the previous season.

Since losing to Liverpool in October, Manchester City has secured seven points from the last nine in the league, but they won 4-1 playing away at Burnley on Tuesday and hope to stay in contention for their third successive Premier League title.

Their neighbours Manchester United will also be encouraged by their last result, which came at the expense of their former manager Jose Mourinho’s new team. United defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening and will hope to continue their good form against the top Premier League teams.

With both Manchester teams going into Saturday’s derby on the back of encouraging victories, it’ll be anyone’s guess as to whether Manchester will be blue or red come Saturday evening. Read on to find out how to watch the first Manchester Derby of 2019/2020 with Man City hosting Man Utd.
