The first episode of the second season of The Mandalorian airs in the UK and US on Friday, 30 October 2020, with the second episode arriving a week later on 6 November. The remaining episodes will follow the same weekly format. As was the case with the first season, there will be eight episodes in total, which means that the final episode will air on 18 December 2020.
What is The Mandalorian season 2 about?
Plot details are scarce at the minute, but based on a couple of tantalising trailers, we’re fairly sure Din Djarin is searching the galaxy for The Child’s home. As a Force-user, this may mean other Jedi, which brings us neatly onto the new members of The Mandalorian’s cast.
- Rosario Dawson will play Ahsoka Tano, former Jedi and apprentice of Anakin Skywalker who survived Order 66 and served during the Rebellion.
- Temuera Morrison will play Boba Fett, the notorious Mandalorian-armour-wearing bounty hunter last seen falling into the Pit of Sarlacc during the opening sequence of Episode VI.
- Katee Sackhoff will play Bo-Katan Kryze, the former ruler of Mandalore and wielder of the Darksaber currently in the possession of Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon.
- Timothy Olyphant will play Cobb Vanth, the current owner of Boba Fett’s Mandalorian armour and a former slave.
The Mandalorian is Disney’s first live-action Star Wars TV show. The first season made waves courtesy of a small green critter currently known as The Child (or Baby Yoda, depending on who you ask). Those enormous ears and soulful eyes are for obvious, adorable reasons still taking the internet by storm.
Chronologically, the show takes place after Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and before Episode VII: The Force Awakens. The Empire has been destroyed, and a new Republic installed by the Rebel Alliance.
Played by Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, Narcos), the eponymous Mandalorian is a bounty hunter named Din Djarin, trying to make a living in a corner of the galaxy that hasn’t really felt the effects of the rebellion or the Empire’s demise.
As the show enters its second season, the stakes are climbing ever higher, as the remnants of the Galactic Empire pursue The Mandalorian and his ward The Child across the Galaxy. With a few familiar faces from the Star Wars universe making their live-action TV debut, now is a great time to jump in.
