The first wave of products will go on sale on Friday, including the XPS One 27 with touch, starting at £1,779 and the XPS 13 Ultrabook, starting from £899. The second wave begins on the 2nd of November with the XPS 12 Convertible tablet/laptop hybrid, which will start at £999. The more business-oriented Latitude 10 tablet (from £619 excluding VAT) and OptiPlex 9010 All-in-One with touch (from £799 ex VAT) will follow after. We've aready seen the Latitude 10 and were impressed with its no-nonsense approach and removable battery, which could come in handy for business customers on the move.

The XPS 12 is arguably the highlight of the new models - we were impressed with its convertible screen at this year's IFA show in Berlin, so will be watching it with interest to see how it fares against the incoming hybrids from other manufacturers.

Finally, the XPS 10 tablet and Insipron 15z with touch will arrive in December, starting from £399 for the tablet and £879 for the laptop.

“The combination of new Dell hardware and Microsoft software will allow customers to create and consume content in new and exciting ways,” Sam Burd, Dell's Personal Computer Product Group GM, said of the announcement. “We’re unveiling a comprehensive refresh of all our consumer and commercial products to take advantage of Windows 8. These stylish new products include clean and intuitive touch experiences, the security and manageability required by IT departments, and features to allow anytime, anywhere access to data and applications.”

Dell also used the announcement to confirm its Windows 8 plans for existing PCs and laptops - all currently shipping models are now available with Windows 8 as pre-orders on www.dell.co.uk.
