Amazon Prime members can get a year of Nintendo Switch Online for free

Twitch Prime is offering a year’s subscription to Nintendo Switch Online that Amazon Prime members can access at no extra cost

Thanks to the partnership between Amazon and game-streaming service Twitch, it’s currently possible for Amazon Prime members to bag themselves a year’s free access to Nintendo Switch Online. That’s 365 days of unhindered access to the online multiplayer components of Switch games such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate or Fortnite – all you need to do is sign in.

To claim your free subscription, you’ll need to link your Amazon account to your Twitch account, which you can do by hitting the “Try Prime” button in the top-left-hand corner of the Twitch landing page.

For some reason, it’s crucial that you have a payment method linked specifically to Prime Video, otherwise you’ll receive an error message. To fix this, you’ll need to head to your Amazon account settings and, under Video Settings, add and save your bank details.

Once you’ve linked your accounts, you’ll be able to activate Twitch Prime. This comes with a whole boat-load of extras such as in-game cosmetic items, member-only chats and exclusive emoticons.

Complete the above and you’ll have immediate access to a three-month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. If you want to earn the remaining nine months, you’ll need to simply hang on to that Twitch Prime account for a further 60 days – to be honest, if you’re paying for Amazon Prime you might as well make the most of the many benefits.

Nintendo Switch Online is the subscription service you’ll need to play with friends or strangers on any Switch game with online functionality. The service usually costs £3.49/mth, £6.99 per three months or £18 for a full year – whichever way you cut it, you’ll be saving money on a service most Switch owners will inevitably end up paying for.

This offer runs until September 2019, so you’ve got plenty of time to redeem it.
