Samsung Galaxy Book Ion is £520 off and Prime Day’s BEST laptop deal

At £720, the Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 13in is a stunning deal - the best laptop bargain on Prime Day 2021

The Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 13.3in was one of our favourite laptops of 2020 and it’s still a favourite now, even more so thanks to a fantastic deal in Amazon’s Prime Day sale.

At a normal price of £1,249 it was always a good deal but there’s now an eye-popping £520 off the price. At £729 it’s now at its lowest price ever.

So what makes this 13in laptop so good? First up, it’s astonishingly thin and light – at a mere 970g you’ll barely notice the extra weight when it’s stowed away in your back pack.

It feels tough in all the right places and it looks pretty swish, too, finished in silver with metallic blue highlights along the spine.

It’s a practical laptop as well and, unusually for such a slim machine, comes stacked with proper, full-sized ports. Where many skinny laptops opt for one or two USB-C sockets, the  Samsung Galaxy Ion 13.3in comes with an HDMI output, two USB-A ports and a microSD slot, in addition to its solitary USB-C connector.

Where the Samsung Galaxy Ion truly shines, however, is its display. Instead of using IPS technology, Samsung employs the same QLED technology as in its premium TVs and the quality shows. It’s simply bursting with vibrant colours, it’s bright enough to use outdoors on the sunniest days and it’s colour accurate, too.

Our original review said: “It’s a stunning display, capable of rubbing shoulders with the very best Apple has to offer,” and that still holds true today.

The only thing you might be wary of is that it employs a 10th gen Intel Core i5 CPU, instead of the 11th gen chips this year’s laptops employ. However, there’s still plenty enough power for day-to-day tasks and battery life is among the very best we’ve seen from any compact laptop.

In our video rundown test, the Galaxy Book Ion lasted a staggering 13hrs 3mins, which is brilliant for a Windows laptop and not far off the matches the superlative (but more expensive) M1 Apple MacBook Air.
