CoPilot Live United Kingdom review
A fantastic app that makes excellent use of the iPhone's GPS.
Although GPS was included in the iPhone 3G, it was only until just a few months ago that the first SatNav apps started become available for the device.
This one, the CoPilot Live United Kingdom, was one of the first, but has recently undergone an update to bring it up to speed with the release of the iPhone 3GS.
Priced at £25.99, CoPilot Live has complete street maps of the UK and Ireland with full seven-digit UK postcodes, so you should be able to find you desired destination with ease. On starting the 220MB app, you’re greeted with a sleek and simple interface, with four options to choose from: Destination, My Places, Settings or Mode, which enables you to navigate for travelling by car, motorcycle, bicycle or on foot.
You can find a destination by address (city or postcode), point of interest and from an address in Contacts, or by choosing a place on a map or entering the coordinates. Routes are calculated quickly, with the distance appearing at the bottom of the screen. You can scroll around the map (although not when driving), view the whole itinerary and view the map in either 2D or 3D, and in landscape or portrait mode.
CoPilot Live works seamlessly with the iPhone hardware, making use of its loudspeaker and fast-fixing GPS. We can’t recommend it more if you’re looking for a SatNav option for your iPhone.
