Blogger testing inline comments and post ratings
Posted on 27 Jun 2008 at 11:12
Google has begun testing a number of new features and tools for Blogger, its web-based blog hosting and authoring service.
The standout change - "by incredibly popular demand" - is the implementation of an embedded comment form. Readers can now post comments without leaving the blog page, though the popup and full page options remain.
As well as inviting comments, blog authors can now give readers a chance to rate postings with a standard zero-to-five star option.
Behind the scenes changes include: a new post editor with drag and drop image placement and improve HTML handling; the ability to automatically add blogs to and verify them with Google's Webmaster Tools; and support for exporting post and comments as XML files, for backup or importing into another blog.
Currently all these options are available through Blogger in Draft, which can be enabled by logging in at draft.blogger.com (where there is a further option to "Make Blogger in Draft my default dashboard").
For more information see the Blogger in Draft blog.
