As the latest in Roccat’s signature Kone range of gaming mice, the Kone XTD builds on its predecessors with an upgraded laser sensor capable of an incredibly large 8,200dpi sensitivity. We welcome the increase in sensitivity, but found it unnecessary.

Designed for right-handed gamers, the 8-button XTD has a tilt wheel and Roccat’s unique EasyShift button. This maps a second function to each of the remaining buttons, including the four button scroll wheel, for a total of 23 different functions. The tilt wheel, previously the Kone’s weak point and prone to breaking, has been redesigned and should last much longer than before.

We’re big fans of the Kone’s shape, which is comfortable to grip, and the mouse is just the right size for our large hands. It feels a little light out of the box, but it comes with four removable 5g weights that you can use to increase the weight, so there should be a comfortable weight for everyone.

Unfortunately, we think it’s too much for a wired gaming mouse, especially when you can get the excellent Corsair Vengeance M60 or the bargain Logitech G400 for much less.
