Kingston KHX1600C9D3LK2/8GX review
Kingston's KHX1600C9D3LK2/8GX 8GB DDR3 memory kit (two 4GB DIMMS) falls into the company's more budget range, but you wouldn't guess that from its look.
Thanks to the cool green heatspreaders, the memory looks great and will remain cool even when overclocked. It's also some of the best-performing memory that we've ever tested.
Putting the RAM into our test machine, the SPD set the memory to a default 1,333MHz. We ran our benchmarks at this speed , getting an overall score of 102. This is one of the fastest results that we've ever seen from stock RAM.
In addition, the KHX1600C9D3LK2/8GX has an XMP profile, which sets the memory to its maximum 1,600MHz rated speed. Jumping up to this speed we re-ran our standard benchmarks and got an overall score of 106. This puts this memory kit at the top of the performance board for 8GB RAM kits and is particularly impressive because of the price.
Given that this kit costs no more than other 8GB kits and that its performance is so good, it's impossible to fault. If you want a decent amount of memory in your computer, the Kingston KHX1600C9D3LK2/8GX is the kit to buy and so wins our Best Buy award.
Bright Blue ??
Am I going colour blind or is it time to get a new monitor as I can't see the "Bright Blue" heat spreaders anywhere :-)
