The Crucial BL2KIT25664BA160A sits in the company's cheaper Ballistix line, but that doesn't mean that it looks cheap. Both 2GB sticks of DDR3 RAM come with a neatly understated black aluminium heatspreader to aid cooling.

Latencies of 10-10-10-28 are slightly lower than on other low-cost kits of memory, where 9-9-9-24 is the norm. Even so, this didn't seem to affect performance. Running the benchmarks using the SPD speed of 1,333MHz, the memory scored 100, which is just shy of the top score achieved by the fastest kits.

However, this memory is rated to run at 1,600MHz and there's an XMP profile to make enabling it easy. Once we'd got the memory to its fastest speed, we saw performance from our benchmarks jump to an overall score of 105, making this one of the fastest kits of memory that we've ever seen.

Give that the Crucial BL2KIT25664BA160A is such reasonable value there seems little point in buying more expensive RAM for most people. It's a great kit and superb value making it our Best Buy.
