Dynaudio Excite sound system confirmed for 2014 VW Scirocco

Dynaudio has partnered with Volkswagon to provide an optional stereo system for the upcoming 2014 Scirocco, adding eight speakers and a subwoofer to the sports coupe

Dynaudio has announced a partnership with Volkswagon to provide the optional stereo system upgrade for the upcoming 2014 Scirocco sports coupe. The Dynaudio Excite Sound System will form part of an audio upgrade package, which will be available to pre-order in May when the company opens its books for the new car.

The £530 optional package is comprised of eight speakers and a subwoofer, powered by a 400W digital amplifier. Dual 2-way systems in the front and rear passenger compartments each use pairs of soft-dome tweeters and MSP mid-range drivers, which according to Dynaudio produce “well-balanced sound to the whole interior”. The separate subwoofer has been built into the spare wheel space of the boot, with no reduction of available space in the boot space itself.

It will also include four DSP pre-sets, which have been tweaked specifically for the system. With a choice of Authentic, Dynamic, Soft and Speed settings, there should be a preset for any music preference, or even for anyone that prefers talk radio.

The entire system has been adapted from the VW Golf VII series, which featured Dynaudio components in the 2013 model refresh. Dynaudio engineers worked with VW on the placement of each individual speaker, to balance the sound throughout the cabin.

2014 VW Scirocco

The Scirocco was relaunched by VW in 2008 as a sporty hatchback, and is expected to arrive in the UK from September onwards. The high-powered R version is set to arrive with a 280bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a 15bhp increase over the outgoing model which should rival the likes of Vauxhall’s Astra VXR and the Seat Leon Cupra.

We hope to be taking a look at the new Scirocco later in the year, complete with the Dynaudio Excite Sound System, so be sure to check back for a more detailed hands on review.
