Everyone has laundry to do, and everyone wants machines that make essential tasks easier. Thankfully, gone are the days of washing machines that sound like the Tardis on their spin cycle; tumble dryers that leave clothes wetter than you started; and dehumidifiers that just seem to move damp air around.

Nowadays, you can look forward to smart AI modes, eco-friendly running options and customisable programmes, to name but a few of the fancy features found on modern laundry appliances.

Of course, none of this means very much unless you – the customer – are satisfied with the appliance’s day-to-day performance. That’s precisely why we’ve launched the Expert Reviews Laundry Brand Awards survey: this June, we asked 1,203 UK homeowners to dish the dirt on their washing machines, tumble dryers and dehumidifiers, to determine which brands the UK ranks most highly.

Read on to find out which brands offer the best value for money, ease of use and reliability, along with the brands that people actually recommend to their friends and family. These are the best laundry brands of 2026, as chosen by you.

Powerhouse German brand Bosch were not only worthy overall winners with an overall consumer score of 81% but also scooped Most Recommended and Most Reliable awards, taking their total wins to three (out of five). 47% of Bosch owners would recommend the brand to friends or family, just edging out Samsung at 45%, while a staggering 97% rated the brand as the most reliable, although LG came in a whisper (0.02%!) behind.

Bosch also outperformed the bulk of the competition in our Best Value category, coming in just behind Indesit at 94% with a very solid score of 91%. Bosch keeps its washing machine range compact, but in it you’ll find sleek and elegant machines with a superb range of features.

Smart features are wonderful and an all-singing and dancing washing machine can be fabulous. But we also want machines that are easy to use and Samsung excelled here, with a winning score of 96% that eclipsed its biggest rivals.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this also means that the brand is one of the most recommended, coming in as runner up in this category with 45% to Bosch’s winning 47%. Perhaps because of the brand’s long history developing other consumer electronics, Samsung washing machines are exceedingly straightforward and intuitive to use.

Although Indesit was bought out by Whirlpool in 2014, the brand name is still used to market a range of home appliances that pride themselves on being great value for money. Sweeping the Best Value category with a score of 94%, Indesit came in third place in the Most Reliable category as well, just behind the more expensive options of Bosch (97.16%) and LG (97.14%) with 96%.

When it comes to washing machines, Indesit is proof that not everything has to come with an extravagant price tag to work well, with the brand consistently being several hundred pounds cheaper than its nearest rivals.

Missing out on the winner’s spot by a tiny 1%, LG washing machines took second place in the Best Overall category with an impressive 80%. They were also runners up to Bosch in the Most Reliable awards, but the difference was so marginal at 97.14% to Bosch’s 97.16% that you might accuse us of splitting hairs. Although the brand only came third in the Most Recommended category, they still scored 42% compared to the winning 47% from Bosch; with a reputation for innovative and technologically advanced features, LG washing machines are another popular choice.

According to our consumer survey, there’s only one brand to consider if you want the best tumble dryer: Samsung swept the board here, winning all five categories. Samsung won the ‘Best Overall’ award with 74% with a clear margin over the runner up, Hotpoint at 70%. Samsung was also voted most reliable at 94%, most user-friendly with a score of 91% and best value at 84%.

Interestingly, it appears not that many people are prepared to recommend tumble dryers, with only 31% of people surveyed happy to recommend Samsung. Still, the brand was also a clear winner here, with Hotpoint (the runner up) coming in at 27%.

Originally founded way back in 1911, Hotpoint could be considered one of the most iconic British brands. And it’s not just a well-known face – the brand was the second-most popular overall in our survey with a score of 70%, as well as runner up in the ‘Most Recommended’ and ‘Most Reliable’ categories. Hotpoint scored 27% for recommendations and a whopping 93% for reliability, bringing it in only 1% behind Samsung. This is an impressive comeback for a brand whose tumble dryers have had safety issues in the past.

Meaco started life controlling environments in museums and art galleries and it’s perhaps that finite attention to detail this required that means the brand’s dehumidifiers are so popular across the board. Meaco was our respondents’ overall favourite choice with a score of 82% and also picked up a win for ‘Most Recommended’ (40%).

Perhaps most impressively, Meaco scored a perfect – and virtually unprecedented – 100% score with our consumers for reliability and ease of use, which is a glowing endorsement of the brand’s accessible design philosophy and commitment to longevity. The only category the brand didn’t win was ‘Best Value’, but Meaco still came in second here with a thoroughly impressive score of 93%.
