This unlimited data Black Friday deal is ridiculous
Unlimited data for £15 per month? Yes, please
You may not be familiar with Smarty, but if you’re in the market for a cheap unlimited data tariff this Black Friday, then you should get acquainted. The MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) has just put up what could be the best SIM-only deal of the Black Friday period.
From now until 8 December, you can get unlimited data, calls and texts for £15 per month. It’s a month-to-month contract, so you can cancel any time you like – though at this price, you likely won’t be in any hurry to do so.
If you’re data hungry, but not *that* data hungry, then the 50GB per month plan is also reduced and worth a look. You still get unlimited calls and texts along with your 50GB data, but only pay £12 per month. Once again, it’s a month-to-month contract, so you’re not on the hook for a long-term commitment.
If you’re worried about going outside of the big networks, don’t be. Smarty is a MVNO, which means it piggybacks off a bigger fish’s network – in this case, Three’s. In other words, if you get decent Three coverage in your area, you’ll be fine.
The one thing to be slightly wary of is that Smarty only provides 3G and 4G data. There’s no 5G option, so if you’ve got a phone that supports it, then you won’t get those superfast speeds even if coverage is available.
That’s not as big a deal as it sounds, especially at the moment when 5G reception is, to put it mildly, limited. And because Smarty’s contracts are a month in length, it’s easy enough to up sticks and go somewhere else when 5G does arrive in your area. Though you’re unlikely to be paying as little as this when the time comes…
