Once the undisputed champion of cheap SIM-only offers, Giffgaff has come up against some pretty stiff competition in recent years, with networks like Voxi, Smarty, Lebara and iD Mobile stepping up their offers in terms of value, allowances and speeds. A virtual network run over Virgin Media O2’s infrastructure, Giffgaff didn’t score the highest for speed and breadth of coverage, however, it should be noted that O2’s 5G network has been expanding and improving steadily over the last few years, meaning it looks set to be a more attractive option as time goes on.
