However, the A8-3850 is an inexpensive processor. It costs just £105, which is £50 less than the Core i5-2500K and £30 less than the i5-2300. Seeing as it’s around two thirds the price of the 2500K and has two-thirds the 2D performance, it would seem that AMD has got its sums right. Throw in the graphics performance, which is good enough to play the latest titles at reasonable detail levels, and you have a great basis for a cheap gaming PC. Power users should still stick with Intel chips, but the A8-3850 still looks like the ideal basis for a budget home computer.
