Xiaomi gives first glimpse of its Mi Watch – an Apple Watch lookalike
The images of the Mi Watch were posted on Xiaomi's official Weibo handles ahead of its launch event on 5 November
Remember, remember the 5 November – especially if you’re an Xiaomi fan.
The Chinese firm is set to launch its next flagship phone, alongside a new smartwatch at an event scheduled for Guy Fawkes night and it has already started teasing what these new devices will look like in a series of Weibo posts.
Images, posted on its official Weibo handles (suggesting these are official shots, and not leaks or rumours), show two smartwatches laying side-by-side. They both have a square face with rounded edges, like the Apple Watch; a crown button, like the Apple Watch; and a button below the crown, like the Apple Watch.
At first glance, if it wasn’t for the bands and the design on the watch face, we may have even assumed this was an image of Apple’s wearable.
A second image, revealing more about the internals of the device, shows that the Xiaomi Mi Watch will independently support Wi-Fi, GPS, and NFC, offer eSIM support, will run on a Qualcomm chip and is fitted with a linear motor and a speaker.

This is not Xiaomi’s first foray into smart wearables; it already sells several models including the Mi Band 4, but if these images are anything to go by, the Mi Watch will be the company’s first full-feature smartwatch.
Xiaomi also used the occasion to reveal more about its rumoured flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. In China, this phone is set to be called the CC9 Pro.
The company had previously confirmed this handset would ship with 108MP penta-rear camera setup, and one of its secondary cameras would feature a telephoto lens. This latest image shows that this telephoto camera has a 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and 50x digital zoom.
A second, “portrait” camera is shown having a 12MP depth sensor, the third camera is positioned as the phone’s main lens – a 108MP with an f/1.7 aperture – its fourth camera is listed as being an ultra-wide angle, 20MP lens ultra-wide angle shooter, while the fifth and final camera is a dedicated macro camera.
Both devices are due to launch in China on 5 November and we’ll update this article when we know more about timings and location.
