Amazon and Twitter team up for #AmazonBasket shopping

#AmazonBasket

Following a similar tie-in with Sky, Amazon has become the second partner to gain Twitter integration with #AmazonBasket hashtag

Amazon has announced a partnership with Twitter to let customers add products to their shopping basket without ever leaving their Twitter client. The new #AmazonBasket system, which follows a similar tie-in between Twitter and Sky to record shows to your Sky+ box using a hashtag, is rolling out now to anyone that wants to sign up.

#AmazonBasket should work with any Amazon product links posted to Twitter. New and existing Amazon customers will need to connect their accounts to enable the feature, with a reply tweet from @MyAmazonUK reminding them their accounts are not yet paired when using #AmazonBasket for the first time.

Once connected, every time you tweet using the #AmazonBasket tag, you will be notified by a reply tweet from @MyAmazonUK and an email confirming the product has been successfully added to your shopping basket. It will then be waiting for you when you next log in to Amazon.

The system certainly sounds like a timesaver if you spend a lot of time on Twitter, or follow people that post a lot of Amazon links, but considering Amazon has a fully-featured mobile app for both iOS and Android it will be interesting to see how many people actually make use of the feature.

You can find out more about the new feature at www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasket.
