BT Black Friday deals: Half price BT TV plus Netflix and Now for FREE

BT's Black Friday deals are here – get Netflix and Now for free with these BT entertainment packages

The Black Friday deals frenzy is gathering momentum, and BT’s Black Friday deals event is keeping pace nicely with a selection of incredibly tempting discounts and freebies on its entertainment packages. These packages bundle TV and broadband together in an effort to make your life simple, but as a result, they can be pretty exorbitantly priced.

Not so this Black Friday, however. All three of BT’s entertainment packages are currently on offer: the discount is a bit confusing, but in essence, you’re getting 50% off the TV portion of the package for the first three months. And better yet, you’ll also get a Netflix Basic subscription AND a Now membership – the latter of which grants you access to things like Sky Atlantic/HBO – for free for the duration of your contract.

If you were wondering how to entertain yourself this Christmas, wonder no more.

The question is: which package should you buy? Let’s take a look.

1. BT Entertainment + Fibre 2

The cheaper of the two packages offers BT’s Fibre 2 broadband – with average download speeds of 67Mbits/sec and a guaranteed minimum of 53Mbits/sec – for £33/mth with a £20 activation fee. On the TV front, you’re getting access to Freeview, AMC and Britbox plus a Now Entertainment membership that comes with Sky Atlantic (HBO), Sky Max and Sky Showcase, among other things. You’ll also get a Netflix Basic subscription that allows you to stream in standard definition (720p) on one device at a time. That’ll cost you £8/mth for the first three months, then £16/mth thereafter.

2. BT Big Entertainment + Fibre 2

What you don’t get with the cheaper package, however, is access to Sky Cinema channels or Now’s hefty movie library. That’s what this package offers on top of everything available in the cheaper one. The broadband side of things remains unchanged at £33/mth (with a £20 activation fee), but courtesy of the added weight of all those movies the Big Entertainment bundle will cost £13/mth for the first three months and £26/mth thereafter. The nature of your free Netflix subscription is also identical.

3. VIP + Fibre 2

If you fancy splashing some cash (albeit less cash than you would outside of Black Friday), BT’s VIP + Fibre 2 package is the one for you. The broadband package is unchanged (£33/mth + £20 activation) but the Big Entertainment TV package is bolstered by a huge selection of sports channels and streaming content plus HD channels and a Netflix Standard membership that lets you watch in 1080p on two screens at the same time. The TV package costs £36.50/mth for the first three months and £73/mth thereafter.

All three packages are well stocked with content, so it’s really just down to how much you’re willing to spend. It’s also worth noting that all of these contracts last for 24 months. BT allows you to change your package on a month-by-month basis, too, so you can feasibly wriggle out of the one you choose once the half-price offer runs out.
