Sick of sluggish broadband? This Virgin Media deal is the answer: for £49/mth on an 18-month contract, you’ll get a scintillating download speed of 516Mbits/sec and an upload rate of 36Mbits/sec. That’s the price you’d usually pay for “just” 362Mbits/sec download and a 5GB SIM.
516Mbits/sec is more than enough bandwidth for superfast streaming, gaming and downloads from a range of devices at the same time. To sweeten the deal even further, Virgin Media is also throwing in a 10GB O2 SIM for your smartphone. Considering that the broadband alone would set you back £43/mth and even a 5GB O2 SIM is £11/mth, you’re getting a huge saving.

Don’t have the need for that much speed? Luckily, Virgin Media is also offering massive reductions on its other Volt plans. For instance, you can get 362Mbits/sec for the price of 213Mbits/sec (£43/mth on an 18-month contract) with a 10GB O2 SIM, or 213Mbits/sec for the normal cost of 108Mbits/sec (£37/mth for 18 months) with a 10GB SIM. There really is something for everyone.
Whichever package you pick, you’ll be a customer of the fastest internet service provider in the UK, according to our annual broadband survey. In our latest in-depth review of Virgin Media’s offering, we praised its rapid rates, expansive range of different plans and solid reliability, while its customer support results were below average. That said, we still awarded it four stars and the majority of its customers were still satisfied with the level of support they received.
Meanwhile, O2, the provider of the free SIMs with all of the plans above, impressed us with its extras and improving 5G coverage. However, we weren’t so enamoured with the high asking prices and its lacklustre customer support scores. Nevertheless, as with Virgin Media, the majority of users were still satisfied with their service.
We still reckon that the 516Mbits/sec for £49/mth Virgin Media deal represents the best value for money, but, once again, you should sign up soon because the saving won’t last forever.
