Broadband deals: Get LUDICROUS discounts from Shell Energy

Broadband deals like these don't come along every day: Shell Energy is pairing up massive discounts with even bigger gift cards

Shell Energy might not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of broadband deals, but this is an absolute doozy: a download speed of 109Mbits/sec for £32/mth (down from £43/mth) on an 18-month contract, plus a gigantic £100 voucher to spend on smart home tech in the Shell Energy shop. That includes Philips Hue smart bulbs, Google smart speakers, Ring smart doorbells and a whole host of handy Amazon kit. If you’ve always wanted to dip your toe into the world of smart tech, this is the perfect opportunity – and all while bagging some bargain broadband.

But the dazzling deals don’t end there: you can also scoop up 207Mbits/sec for £35/mth (was £48/mth) with a £125 voucher, 311Mbits/sec for £39/mth (was £54/mth) with a £150 voucher, 525Mbits/sec for £42/mth (was £60/mth) with an eye-boggling £175 voucher and, finally, a screaming 944Mbits/sec for £46/mth (was £65/mth) with that incredible £175 voucher. The latter will save you an incredible £342 over the course of the contract.

There is a caveat, however: we haven’t had the chance to fully review Shell Energy yet and the user feedback online is a mixed bag. That said, as you’ll see below, these are some of the most eye-catching broadband deals on the market at the moment. Just get in there quickly because they might not be around for long.

So how do these broadband deals size up against the competition? Our favourite internet service provider overall, Plusnet, charges £40/mth for an estimated download speed of 500Mbits/sec on a two-year deal – without a gift card. Meanwhile, our second favourite, Now Broadband, is more competitive when it comes to prices, charging just £22/mth for up to 74Mbits/sec, but it can’t match Shell Energy’s sheer breadth of speeds.

The savings are even greater when you compare them against the broadband big-hitters: Sky charges £35/mth for 145Mbits/sec without any attention-grabbing extras, while 900Mbits/sec will set you back £55/mth with the company. Similarly, BT is pricier when it comes to the top-of-the-range plans.

Once again, though, we can’t ignore the elephant in the room: as head-turning as these broadband deals may be, we don’t have any review data to hand about Shell Energy, nor do we know how its existing customers feel about it. Still, you might find that you’re willing to overlook those downsides to grab the claimed superfast speeds and free spending money in the Shell shop.

We are on much firmer ground, however, when it comes to the other current broadband offers, as you can see in our regularly updated list of the best broadband deals.
