How to watch The Outsider for free in the UK, US and abroad

Find out how to watch all episodes of the gripping horror miniseries, The Outsider, adapted from the novel by Stephen King

Based on the novel by Stephen King and adapted for television by Richard Price, American psychological thriller The Outsider has been called a “slow burn” by many, but you can now watch all episodes of season one as fast as you like.

The series is currently available to watch on Sky Atlantic and its a-la-carte streaming service Now TV Entertainment Pass (which comes with a seven-day free trial for new customers). Alternatively, you can also watch it on Hulu in both the UK and US (again, this has a monthly free trial for new subscribers).

The miniseries centres on a small town in Oklahoma, where the mutilated body of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson is discovered. In the ensuing investigation – led by detective Ralph Anderson (Ben Mendelsohn) – local little league coach and teacher Terry Maitland (Jason Bateman) is arrested for the murder of Peterson.

But when contradicting evidence arises that suggests his being in two places at once, Maitland’s guilt is thrown into doubt. Over the course of the investigation, it transpires that a more sinister supernatural force is involved, as a deformed hooded figure lurks in the background.

While adapted from the novel of the same name by Stephen King, the season finale of The Outsider suggests the set-up to a second season that goes beyond what’s in the novel. If this has piqued your interest, read on for our guide on how to watch The Outsider in the UK, US and abroad.

How to watch The Outsider for free in the UK: Now TV

If you decide to go down the Sky TV route (see below), you’ll need to pay an initial set-up fee before being tied into a contract for at least 18 months. The best way to avoid this is to get a Now TV Entertainment Pass. Now TV gives you an a-la-carte option for Sky’s TV shows, films and sports channels.

For £9.99/mth, you’ll be able to watch every episode of The Outsider on any device, as well as hundreds of other Sky shows. If you’re still unsure, you have the option of a seven-day free trial (only valid for new customers), during which time you can cancel your subscription at any time without being charged. In theory, this means you can watch The Outsider for free, provided you’re quick.

How to watch The Outsider abroad: use a good VPN service

If you try to access any of the above streaming services while travelling abroad, you’re likely to run into some difficulties. This is because most streaming services – including Sky Go, Now TV and Hulu – are all geo-blocked. The only reliable way to bypass this is to use a good VPN (virtual private network) service.

As well as letting you access geo-blocked websites, a good VPN service also gives you complete anonymity when browsing online by encrypting your IP address. This means that no one – not even your ISP – will be able to see what you do whenever you go online.

Better yet, you can use it on up to five devices simultaneously. Our readers get 49% off when they choose the one-year plan, and you even get a 30-day no-questions-asked moneyback guarantee if you’re unhappy.

Surfshark VPN: Surfshark VPN is a cheaper service that shares many of the same brilliant features as ExpressVPN, but isn’t as fast. A single subscription covers unlimited devices and, like ExpressVPN, the entire service has been audited to prove that your data is in safe hands when browsing.
