How to watch Oprah with Meghan and Harry for free: Watch the interview that everyone’s talking about for free anywhere in the world

Oprah Winfrey sat down with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for an exclusive interview that's now available to watch free online

Note: This article does not contain any spoilers from the interview

Oprah With Meghan And Harry is already being touted as the “interview of the year” and for good measure. Anything that we get to see from the British Royal Family is often brief, scripted and carefully orchestrated, so it was no surprise that the CBS exclusive sit-down interview between American talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey and her close friends (and neighbours) Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had the British tabloids working over-time.

The two-hour special – titled Oprah with Meghan and Harry – first aired on American channel CBS on 7 March and in the UK on ITV a day later on 8 March. Both channels don’t require a subscription service, but you may need to create a free login. If you’re abroad, your best option to access both channels is to use a good VPN service.

“Were you silent, or were you silenced?” Oprah asks a nervous-looking Meghan Markle in one of the first-look trailers for the exclusive interview. The veteran talk-show host then goes on to add that there’s “no subject that’s off-limits”, with the Prince later interjecting that his biggest concern was “history repeating itself”.

In another teaser clip, Meghan tells Oprah “I don’t know how they could expect that after all of this time, we would still just be silent if there was still an active role that The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us…” With comments like these, it’s easy to see why last night’s show is already being compared to Princess Diana’s explosive 1995 BBC Panorama interview with Martin Bashir.

It was no surprise then that all the British – and worldwide – tabloids and news channels could talk about soon after the interview aired in the US were the contents of the interview that contained many revelations and accusations that were not public knowledge before.

Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior members of the royal family and moved to Southern California about a year ago, we’ve heard very little from the couple, so the world waited anxiously to listen to what they have to say and what prompted their various decisions over the course of the last few years.

What topics did Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview cover? (doesn’t contain any interview spoilers)

Meghan Markle opens the interview alone with Oprah Winfrey discussing a range of topics that include everything from her life in the glare of the British media, how she was treated and their subsequent decision to leave the UK for her native Southern California.

Oprah is well known for her journalistic tact of extracting honest revelations from her interviewees and Markle did not hold back when it came to giving honest answers to her close friend. Their pair go back years dating to when Meghan Markle was an actress on US sitcom, Suits. Oprah Winfrey also attended the wedding of the Royal couple back in May 2018.

Meghan was later joined by her husband, Prince Harry, who furthered the conversation that sparked their eventual departure from his home in the UK to the US. In one of the other trailers for the interview, Prince Harry is quoted as saying: “I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side…because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her (Princess Diana), going through this process by herself all those years ago.”

Apart from the pressures of living life in the intense gaze of the media spotlight on both sides of the Atlantic, the conversation also touched on light-hearted topics, including their transition from living in the UK to the US, marriage, philanthropic work, parenthood and growing family.

The couple are parents to 21-month old son Archie and they are expecting another baby in a few months. In October last year, they launched an American public non-profit organisation called Archewell Inc. that focuses on non-profit and creative ventures.

How to watch Oprah with Meghan and Harry for free in the US: CBS

CBS had the official rights to broadcast the exclusive interview live on 7 March. You can now watch the entire interview by clicking the below link, but only if you live in the US. If you’re outside the US, you’ll first need to use a VPN service before clicking the link. US residents can also watch the interview using the CBS app.

Considering Oprah Winfrey is known for her revelatory interviews (remember Lance Armstrong) and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a lot to get off their chest, it’s not surprising that this has turned out to be one of the most-watched interviews in recent memory given the high profile nature of Meghan, Harry and the British monarchy worldwide.

How to watch Oprah with Meghan and Harry for free in the UK: ITV

Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview made instant waves across the world for its revelatory content. As soon as it aired in the US, it was the only thing that social media and tabloids the world over could speak about for the next few days.

Luckily, British viewers didn’t have to wait long to watch the interview as it aired on the free-to-air channel ITV less than a day after it aired in the US. It’s worth noting that the interview will only be available on ITV until 5 April 2021, after which you’ll need to resort to the CBS link above.
