Apple trails MobileMe changes
Posted on 14 Apr 2009 at 10:02
Apple has added a handy maps to the MobileMe contacts web app, while confirming that from 7 July, two of the service?€s legacy features will be discontinued.
Groups will go offline completely and all features will no longer be available. Any files contained in the Groups folder on your iDisk will be moved on 7 July into a new Groups Archive folder where they may be accessed just as long as you remain a MobileMe member.
The scrapping of Homepage is not quite so drastic. Existing Homepage websites will remain untouched and live at their current address. However you will no longer be able to edit pages or create new ones, since the Homepage feature of .Mac, MobileMe’s predecessor, have been replaced by the iLife applications and the photo sharing web app at me.com.
Map integration with MobileMe contacts— works when you click an address for one of your contacts at me.com/contacts. A mini map from Google appears, where you can then click the Open in Google Maps link at the bottom for a larger map or directions.
