These Sony WF-1000MX4 earbuds are the best headphones deal this Black Friday

We may still be a few days away from Black Friday, but in its eagerness to stretch out the festivities, Amazon has slashed the price on our favourite wireless earbuds: the Sony WF-1000XM4.
 
Okay, the name is still a bit of a mouthful, but the price is right. Typically costing £250, the true wireless earbuds can now be had for just £195 — a decent saving on the RRP. That’s the cheapest price we’ve ever seen on Amazon, beating the previous best of £223.41 set all the way back in June.

The main thing you need to know about the Sony WF-1000XM4 is that it sits atop our list of the best wireless earbuds. And considering the quantity of earbuds we test in a year, that’s no mean feat.  
 
As for why we rate them so highly, it really comes down to three things: superb audio quality, effective noise cancellation and some very neat, innovative quality of life features. 
 

The first two should be self-explanatory, but some of the best features are worth covering. For example, the earbuds will learn places you frequent frequently via the GPS on your phone, and you can set different EQs to each one. In other words, if you prefer different settings in the office and the coffee shop, the app will learn and automagically adapt. Clever stuff.
 
Noise cancellation can also be automated depending on what you’re doing, automatically switching from muting the outside world when sat still, to letting everything in while running, say. And there’s also a feature where the music will stop when you speak, letting you carry out conversations with colleagues without having to fiddle with settings.
 
While the sound quality isn’t quite as good as the B&W P18, and the noise cancellation isn’t quite as powerful as Bose’s QC earbuds, as an all-round package, the Sony WF-1000XM4 really can’t be beaten by anything else on the market at the moment. It’s brilliant at everything, even if it isn’t quite the best in each individual category.
 
At £195, it’s the best price yet, and you shouldn’t hesitate to add it to your cart if you’re in the market for the best set of earbuds you can buy.
