Jack Ryan first premiered on Amazon Prime Video in August 2018 and has since made waves by garnering a large fan base because of its compelling storyline.

The TV series sees rising CIA agent Jack Ryan (played by John Krasinski), partake in a dangerous field assignment where he discovers a pattern in terrorist communication that puts him in the centre of danger.
Krasinki is no stranger to this genre, having starred in 2018 thriller film ‘A Quiet Place’ alongside other notable productions including hit US comedy series, The Office and war movie, Jarhead.
Jack Ryan’s boss in the series is James Greer, played by Wendell Pierce. You may already know him from the Oscar-winning production, Selma, and hit TV show, Suits. Other familiar faces include Michael Kelly, Noomi Rapace and Abbie Cornish.

Author Tom Clancy produced fictional character, Jack Ryan in a series of his New York Times bestseller fiction works titled Ryanverse. The character makes his first appearance in Clancy’s debut novel, ‘The Hunt for Red October’ (1984).
The Amazon Prime Video series is not the first to see the character brought to life onscreen as star actors, including Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford, have portrayed the character in a number of films centred on the novel’s franchise.
Although the adaptations vary, it’s worth reading up on the original source at least to get a better idea of the full history of the character.
