GoPro Hero 10 Black unveiled with improved frame rates and steadier footage

The GoPro Hero 10 Black promises to be the fastest, smoothest and easiest-to-use action camera yet

GoPro has just launched its latest flagship action camera, the Hero 10 Black. Picking up where last year’s Hero 9 Black left off, the Hero 10 promises to be even faster, smoother and easier to use than its predecessor, without an increase in price.

The headline feature for 2021 is the all-new GP2 processor. Alongside offering improved image quality, GoPro’s newest chipset enables the Hero 10 Black to double the maximum frame rates of its predecessor. The Hero 10 Black offers 5.3K video recording at up to 60fps, 4K at up to 120fps and 2.7K at up to 240fps. Still images can now be captured at up to 23-megapixels as well.

Stabilisation has also been upgraded, with the Hero 10 benefitting from GoPro’s latest HyperSmooth 4.0 tech for even steadier footage. The horizon leveling function now supports up to 40-degrees of correction, too, up from 27-degrees on the Hero 9.

Externally, the new action camera closely mirrors last year’s model, with the only obvious difference being new blue accents on the logo and livery. The Hero 10 carries over the front and rear colour displays, although it now comes with improved refresh and response times, along with support for GoPro’s interchangeable Max lens mod. As has become standard with recent GoPro releases, there are folding mounting prongs built into the base and the entire camera is rugged and water resistant to a depth of 10m right out of the box.

The Hero 10 Black is available to buy right now at GoPro’s official website and, Amazon and other online retailers for £480. Alternatively, if you’re a GoPro subscriber, or opt to pick up a free one-year subscription with your Hero 10 purchase, you can save £100 and pick one up for £380 at GoPro.com

We hope to review the Hero 10 Black in the coming weeks, so check back soon for our final verdict.
