Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III: Specs, price and release date CONFIRMED
Canon’s new Mark III comes with some neat upgrades
We’ve known about the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III for some time, thanks to images and specs finding their way into the hands of leak sites. Now Canon has finally revealed the camera’s full specs, pricing and release date.
The Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III has been a bit of a talking point thanks to the popularity of its predecessor, the Mark II. The previous model was a big hit with videographers and vloggers, and Canon has taken this feedback onboard when redesigning one of its most popular compact cameras.
Most impressively, the Mark III allows users to live stream to YouTube, as well as shoot vertically – ideal for people who want to embed their videos to Instagram. You can also upload content directly to Instagram or Facebook.
The PowerShot G7 X Mark III will cost £699 when it launches in August. While there’s no change in the 20-megapixel resolution seen in the Mark II, the new model does have a 20.1-megapixel stacked 1in CMOS sensor. The 35mm-equivalent range of 25-100mm and maximum aperture of f/1.8-2.8 also remain unchanged from the Mark II.
Other key specs on the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III include:
- A 24mm 4.2x zoom
- Movable LCD touchscreen with the ability to tilt up to 180 degrees
- 3.5mm microphone input for professional sound
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities
- USB charging
- GPS via mobile
- Direct printing from some Canon printers and PictBridge
- DIGIC 8 engine, which allows 4K video shooting to 30p with no crop
- Shoot 20fps in continuous mode and 30ftp RAW Burst mode
Image stabilisation also promises to be better on the Mark III, while the battery life is approximately 265 shots in standard mode and 320 shots in eco-mode. Users can also expect approximately 300 minutes playback from the Mark III.
