Sync your files across all your Windows devices with the official Dropbox app

Dropbox has finally arrived on Windows phones and tablets. After countless clones and fake apps have filled the Windows Store trying to take its place, an official app is, at last, available to download on phones running Windows Phone 8.0 or higher and Windows devices running Windows 8.1 or Windows RT.

The app will offer all the regular Dropbox features such as automatically backing up your photos to Dropbox and being able to mark files as favourites so you can get them even when you don't have an internet connection. You'll also be able to access both your personal and work accounts at the same time. The Dropbox app has been tailored for Windows so you can pin any folder to your Start screen, giving you quick and easy access to your favourite files without clicking or tapping through multiple folders.

The release of this new app finally gives Windows Phone users the same functionality as their colleagues on Android and iOS, who have been able to edit Office files directly through their Dropbox app since last November. Android and iOS users are also able to access their Dropbox files straight from the Office app, save new files to Dropbox once they're done without ever leaving the Office app, and instantly share a documents with friends and family by sending a Dropbox link through Office.

The lack of an official Dropbox app has long been one of our main bug-bears with Windows Phones and the Windows Phone Store, but at least it's better late than never. The only major apps missing now are Sky Go, Amazon Instant Video and most of Google's various services aside from its main Search app. The Windows Phone Store has been going from strength to strength in recent months, as there are now official apps for BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4OD, Demand 5, Netflix, Spotify, personal finance apps from all the major banks, travel apps such as Waze and TripAdvisor and all the top social media apps.
